What it does
Target player draws a card, then up to one target creature you control connives. (Draw a card, then discard a card. If you discarded a nonland card, put a +1/+1 counter on that creature.)

Where it came from
Unstable Experiment was released as part of the Marvel Super Heroes Commander set, a specialized product line designed to integrate the flavor of the Marvel Universe into the popular Commander format. The card represents a recurring trope within the Marvel canon, specifically the trope of the high-stakes laboratory accident or risky scientific endeavor that defines the origins of many iconic heroes and villains.
The art and mechanical design reflect a commitment to capturing the chaos of comic book storytelling. Illustrators for the set focused on a dynamic, high-energy aesthetic that aligns with the established visual language of the source material. Upon its release, the card was noted by players for its thematic resonance, functioning as a narrative bridge between the mechanics of the game and the unpredictable nature of super-powered development in the Marvel mythos.
