Urborg Emissary

Urborg Emissary was released in the 2000 Invasion expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. The set was thematic, focusing on the planar invasion of Dominaria by the Phyrexians, and this card reflects that lore through its ties to the swamp-heavy region of Urborg. It was designed as a creature with a conditional ability, allowing it to gain protection from a specific color depending on the lands controlled, a mechanic intended to reward players for careful deck construction.

The card features illustration by Mark Tedin, one of the most prolific and recognizable early artists for the game.
