Urza's Rage

Urza's Rage was originally released in the 2000 Invasion expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. Designed by Mike Elliott, the card was conceptualized as a powerful, uncounterable sorcery that gained additional utility through its kicker cost, reflecting the high-stakes mechanical design typical of the era. The artwork, illustrated by Rob Alexander, depicts a volatile eruption of magical energy, grounding the card in the deep lore of the Urza saga and the cataclysmic history of the game's central protagonist.

This specific entry comes from 'The List,' a rotating collection of cards curated by Wizards of the Coast that features reprints from throughout the game's history inserted into modern set booster packs. The inclusion of Urza's Rage in this selection serves to acknowledge its status as a foundational piece of red-mana strategy and its enduring popularity among long-time players. As a card that defines the red archetype of direct damage, its presence in The List allows newer players to experience a classic design that remains a reliable staple for aggressive playstyles.
