Where it came from
Vampire Bats is a common creature card featured in the Rivals Quick Start Set for the customizable card game Vampire: The Eternal Struggle. Released during the game's initial launch period in the mid-1990s, the set was designed to provide newcomers with accessible, pre-constructed decks to learn the mechanics of the World of Darkness tabletop universe. The card reflects the game's gothic-punk aesthetic, focusing on the supernatural abilities and minions available to the various vampire clans.
The art and design of the set were curated to align with the visual identity established by White Wolf Publishing. Like other cards in the Rivals Quick Start, the illustration was commissioned to evoke a dark, cinematic atmosphere consistent with the lore of the source material. It served as a functional utility card within the early gameplay meta, intended to help players manage their influence and board presence during the introductory phase of the game.
