Venerated Loxodon

Venerated Loxodon first debuted in the Core Set 2019 expansion, designed to be a potent representative of the Loxodon, a race of elephantine humanoids integral to the lore of Ravnica. The creature was crafted by Wizards of the Coast design teams to highlight the white mana color identity, focusing on the mechanical theme of 'convoke,' which rewards players for tapping their existing creatures to help cast expensive spells. This synergy reflects the communal, structured nature often associated with Loxodon culture within the game's multiverse.

The Foundations Jumpstart version, numbered 278, serves as a recent iteration of the card, illustrating the ongoing commitment to keeping staple strategies accessible in the game's evolving ecosystem. While the original art for the Loxodon was handled by artist Greg Staples, whose work often emphasizes the physical weight and stoic presence of such creatures, subsequent reprints and set-specific versions maintain this thematic consistency. The card has generally been well-regarded by the community for its efficiency and the strategic depth it adds to aggressive white-aligned decks.
