Where it came from
Overwhelm is a green sorcery card featured in the Foundations Jumpstart set, released by Wizards of the Coast in 2024. This card was designed to support the set's goal of providing a beginner-friendly, cohesive gameplay experience, serving as a classic example of an effect that provides a temporary power and toughness boost to a player's creatures, often referred to in the game as a 'pump spell.'
The card’s illustration follows the aesthetic direction of the Foundations set, which emphasizes clear, evocative imagery meant to ground players in the fantasy lore of the Magic: The Gathering multiverse. As a reprint-style inclusion within this introductory framework, the artwork is intended to be both functional for new players identifying card types and consistent with the broader visual language established for the game's core base.
