Provenance

Where it came from

Vexing Gull is a card featured in the 2024 Magic: The Gathering set titled Foundations Jumpstart. This release was designed to serve as a beginner-friendly entry point into the game, focusing on accessible mechanics and simplified play patterns that allow new players to engage with the core experience of the trading card game immediately upon opening the pack.

The card was illustrated by Wisnu Tan, who utilized a clean, digital aesthetic to convey the creature's disruptive nature within the game's blue color identity. As a common rarity card within this set, it follows the long-standing tradition of flying creatures in Magic that provide essential utility during the early stages of a match, specifically designed to be balanced for the fast-paced, randomized environment of the Jumpstart format.
