Where it came from
Vision Skeins was originally released in the 2006 Ravnica: City of Guilds expansion as an uncommon blue sorcery. The card is designed to represent the concept of psychic information overload, forcing both players to draw two cards. Its mechanics lean into the classic blue philosophy of card advantage, balanced by the symmetric drawback of bolstering the opponent's hand.
This specific printing comes from the 2017 Archenemy: Nicol Bolas set, which utilized a specialized frame and card numbering system distinct from standard expansions. The set was designed to facilitate a one-versus-many multiplayer format, with the card art and flavor text emphasizing the grand, manipulative schemes of the iconic dragon planeswalker, Nicol Bolas.
