Where it came from
Visions of Phyrexia is an enchantment card released in the 2022 set The Brothers' War, which focuses on the iconic conflict between Urza and Mishra that defined early Magic: The Gathering lore. The card depicts a thematic bridge between the past and the encroaching mechanical horror of the Phyrexians, serving as a mechanical representation of their corruptive influence permeating the setting of Dominaria.
The card was illustrated by Donato Giancola, a renowned fantasy artist known for his sophisticated use of light and classical composition. Giancola designed the artwork to capture a moment of eerie, prophetic revelation, emphasizing the stark contrast between organic existence and the cold, invasive technology of the Phyrexian aesthetic. It has been well-regarded by players for both its atmospheric art style and its utility in decks that prioritize long-term resource management.
