Provenance

Where it came from

Vivid Meadow was originally released in the Commander 2011 product line, a significant expansion for Magic: The Gathering that introduced the dedicated Commander format to a wider audience. As a cycle of uncommon lands designed to provide flexible color fixing, the Vivid cycle—including Vivid Meadow—was originally introduced in the Lorwyn set to reflect the vibrant, ethereal nature of that plane. Its inclusion in the 2011 Commander decks ensured that players had accessible, multicolored mana support when building their hundred-card decks.

The art for the card was created by artist Drew Tucker, known for his distinctively impressionistic and textural style. In designing the Vivid lands, the goal was to evoke a landscape brimming with latent magical energy, using soft, painterly strokes to contrast with the rigid mechanical function of the card's ability to produce any color of mana. While it remains a functional staple rather than a high-value collector's piece, the card is well-regarded by players for the nostalgia associated with the early era of preconstructed Commander decks.
