Void Winnower

Void Winnower was released in 2015 as part of the Battle for Zendikar set for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. The card represents a terrifying Eldrazi, an otherworldly entity central to the set's narrative, which focuses on the invasion of the plane of Zendikar by these cosmic, reality-warping beings. The promotional version, marked 17p, was distributed through specific organized play programs, providing a unique aesthetic variant to the standard expansion release.

The art was created by Jack Wang, who utilized a distinct, unsettling visual style to convey the creature's immense power and inherent wrongness. The design is notable for its unique static ability, which prohibits opponents from casting or blocking with creatures of even converted mana cost, a mechanical innovation that quickly became a cult favorite for its peculiar and disruptive influence on gameplay. It remains one of the most recognizable and discussed cards from the modern era of the game due to its unconventional rule text.
