Where it came from
Voidmage Husher was originally released as a promotional card insert within the IDW Publishing run of Magic: The Gathering comics, which debuted in 2012. This specific card was featured as part of a series intended to bridge the gap between the established card game lore and the narrative medium of serialized graphic novels, offering players a tangible tie-in to the storytelling featured in the issues.
The card design retains the mechanics and aesthetic of the original Planar Chaos printing, featuring the distinct illustrative style of artist Greg Staples. His work on this card focuses on the dark, ethereal nature of the Husher, utilizing a muted palette and haunting composition to emphasize the creature's role as a silence-inducing spellcaster. It was generally received as a desirable collectible for fans of both the MTG multiverse and the specific comic series run.
