Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider // Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider

Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider was released in 2021 as part of the Kaldheim Art Series, a collection of cards designed specifically to showcase the expansive illustrations from the Kaldheim expansion of Magic: The Gathering. These cards are non-playable in traditional gameplay formats, functioning instead as high-quality, frame-less art prints meant for display and collection. The series was introduced by Wizards of the Coast as a way to honor the artists who define the visual identity of the game.

The original illustration for this version of Vorinclex was created by artist Daarken. Depicting the phyrexian praetor in a stark, biomechanical style that fits the metallic aesthetic of the Kaldheim set, the design emphasizes the creature's predatory and monstrous nature. The card reflects the creative direction of the Magic: The Gathering art department, which aimed to revitalize classic character designs for modern collectors, and it remains a sought-after piece for those who appreciate the intersection of dark fantasy and technical illustration.
