Where it came from
The Warmaker Gunship, card number 167s from the Edge of Eternities expansion, was released as a promotional variant during the height of the game's competitive circuit. It was designed to highlight the high-stakes tactical gameplay that defined the expansion, serving as a reward for players participating in regional qualifying tournaments. The card emphasizes the brutalist mechanical aesthetic central to the Warmaker faction, intended to convey a sense of overwhelming industrial force on the tabletop.
The illustration was rendered by a lead concept artist within the franchise’s studio, focusing on a perspective that emphasizes the gunship's massive scale relative to its environment. By utilizing a high-contrast palette of steel grays and atmospheric oranges, the artist aimed to ground the fantasy technology in a gritty, functional reality. Upon release, the promo was well-received by the player base for its unique frame treatment and its status as a quintessential piece of the game's expanded tactical lore.
