Provenance

Where it came from

The Waxen Shapethief, identified as collector number 74p, is part of the Aetherdrift Promos set, a release characterized by its distinctive card stock and limited distribution window. These promotional cards were released to support the broader Aetherdrift expansion, serving as both a collectible milestone for dedicated players and a showcase for the set's central thematic focus on fluid, illusion-based mechanics.

The visual design of this card reflects the hallmark aesthetic of the Aetherdrift series, which emphasizes ethereal light effects and metamorphic imagery. It was illustrated to evoke the concept of shifting physical form, utilizing high-contrast color palettes and intricate linework to distinguish it from the standard-issue version. The card was well-received by the community for its unique treatment and its role as a representative piece of the set's illustrative evolution.
