Where it came from
Wharf Infiltrator was introduced in the Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur's Gate set, released in 2022. The card is a functional reprint of a card originally featured in the Eldritch Moon set, repurposed here to fit the Dungeons & Dragons-themed narrative of the expansion. It was designed to support blue-aligned archetypes that favor card filtering and incremental value through combat damage.
The artwork for this iteration was created by illustrator Randy Vargas, who leaned into the murky, atmospheric aesthetic of Baldur's Gate's waterfront districts. The design portrays the infiltrator as a shadowy, elusive figure, capturing the mechanical essence of a creature that rewards players for slipping past opposing defenses. It has been generally well-regarded by the Commander community as a solid utility creature for decks focused on discarding cards for benefit.
