Whirler Rogue

Whirler Rogue originally debuted in the Magic: The Gathering set Magic Origins in 2015, designed as a versatile blue creature capable of creating artifact tokens to facilitate combat maneuvers. The card was specifically conceptualized to provide tempo and board presence, allowing players to utilize its ability to make other creatures unblockable, which became a hallmark of blue-aligned artifact strategies. This particular printing appeared in the March of the Machine Commander set in 2023, serving as a reprint to support the expansion's focus on the diverse factions and mechanical themes spanning the multiverse.

The artwork for this iteration maintains the established visual identity of the character, a master of constructs often depicted within the urban environments of Kaladesh. By placing the creature within the context of the March of the Machine Commander product line, Wizards of the Coast intended to provide players with consistent access to utility-focused staples that benefit from artifact synergies. The card’s design remains a favorite among practitioners of the Commander format due to its multi-faceted contribution to both offensive strategy and board state manipulation.
