Where it came from
Wickersmith's Tools appears in the Lorwyn Eclipsed Commander set, which draws thematic inspiration from the folklore-heavy, high-fantasy aesthetic of the original Lorwyn block. This card reflects the whimsical yet intricate art style characteristic of the plane, where the shifting nature of the setting provides a backdrop for artifacts that feel both rustic and imbued with a peculiar, fey-touched utility.
The design of the card emphasizes the functional, craft-focused identity of the kithkin and faerie artificers found within the Lorwyn setting. Illustrators for this set aimed to evoke a sense of tactile realism, utilizing deep greens and autumnal palettes to ground the magical tools in the physical world of the set, a stylistic choice that was received by players as a faithful tribute to the plane's distinct visual heritage.
