Where it came from
Wonder was originally released in the Judgement set in 2002, designed as part of a cycle of legendary Incarnations that provided global static abilities to their controllers from the graveyard. This mechanic was intended to reward players for filling their graveyards, a strategy that was novel and mechanically distinct for the era. The card was reimagined for the Eternal Masters set in 2016, a collection curated specifically to provide high-powered, fan-favorite cards for non-rotating formats like Legacy and Vintage.
The art for the Eternal Masters version of Wonder was illustrated by Kev Walker, a prominent fantasy artist known for his dark and visceral style. In this iteration, Walker moved away from the more abstract, ethereal depiction found in the original Judgement printing, opting instead for a more grounded, textured representation that emphasizes the creature's formidable presence. Upon its inclusion in Eternal Masters, the card was well-received by the player base, as the reprint provided an accessible way to acquire a staple utility card that had become difficult to find in the years since its debut.
