Where it came from
Wrenn and Seven, originally introduced in the Modern Horizons 2 set, represents a significant evolution in the Planeswalker card type. Designed by the Wizards of the Coast development team, the card was conceived to synergize with land-based strategies, allowing players to manipulate their libraries and graveyard to gain board presence. This specific iteration, featured in the Duskmourn: House of Horror Commander collection, reimagines the character within the thematic aesthetic of the horror-themed set, blending the familiar arboreal and symbiotic design elements with the darker, atmospheric tone of the House of Horror plane.
The artwork for this version retains the core identity of Wrenn’s connection to her treefolk companion, Seven, while adapting to the visual vocabulary of the Duskmourn expansion. This release was intended to provide Commander players with both a thematic variant and a mechanically relevant tool for graveyard-focused decks. Upon its release, it was well-received by the Magic: The Gathering community for its ability to maintain consistency in land-heavy archetypes, standing as a staple for players looking to balance mid-game recovery with long-term utility.
