Where it came from
Wrenn and Seven was released in 2021 as part of the Innistrad: Midnight Hunt expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. It features the character Wrenn, a dryad planeswalker, paired with a treefolk companion known as Seven, continuing a narrative arc that began in the Modern Horizons set. The card was designed to highlight the synergy between land-based mechanics and graveyard interaction, fitting the gothic horror themes of the Innistrad plane.
The artwork for this card was created by artist Christopher Rush, though the piece itself is notable for its depiction of the bond between the two characters in a vibrant, autumnal color palette. The card was well-received by competitive players upon release due to its significant utility in various constructed formats, particularly for its ability to draw cards and create powerful creature tokens based on land count.
