What it does
Whenever a land enters, Zo-Zu deals 2 damage to that land's controller.
His cleverness is well regarded among the akki, but most of his jokes are just variations on "Leaving Zo-Zu'n?" and then he shoots fire at you.

Where it came from
Zo-Zu the Punisher was originally introduced in the 2004 Magic: The Gathering expansion Champions of Kamigawa. Designed by the development team to punish players for playing lands, the character serves as a quintessential red-aligned disruption card. This specific printing debuted in the 2022 Secret Lair Countdown Kit, a curated collection that functioned as an advent calendar, offering a unique card for each of the thirty days leading up to the end of the year.
The art for this version was commissioned to reflect the stylized, thematic aesthetic typical of Secret Lair drops, moving away from the original set's traditional frame. By recontextualizing established staples within these premium, limited-run sets, Wizards of the Coast aimed to offer long-time collectors distinct aesthetic variations of popular utility cards. The design choices for the Countdown series emphasized high-contrast visuals and distinct border treatments to differentiate them from standard expansion releases.
