Ava's Demon

Ava's Demon is a long-running webcomic created by Michelle Czajkowski, known online as Tinypaint, which debuted in 2012. The series originated as a passion project characterized by its distinctive, high-saturation color palette and a visual style that blends traditional illustrative techniques with digital layering. It follows the story of Ava, a girl plagued by a demon who possesses her, as she navigates a cosmic narrative involving themes of identity, pacts, and ancient planetary lore.

The physical volumes of the series are produced through crowdfunding campaigns on platforms like Kickstarter, where they have consistently met significant support from a dedicated reader base. The design of these volumes emphasizes the series' elaborate, painterly aesthetic, with the print editions often serving as collector's items that translate the scrolling web format into a traditional book layout. The work is widely recognized for its departure from standard webcomic tropes, favoring an expansive, cinematic approach to storytelling and character design that has solidified its status within the independent digital comics community.
