Bad Police

Bad Police, authored by Tetsuya Saruwatari, emerged during a period in the late 1980s when the creator was establishing his reputation for visceral, action-oriented seinen manga. The work serves as a gritty exploration of institutional corruption and moral ambiguity within the Japanese law enforcement system, reflecting a broader trend in adult-oriented comics of that era that sought to challenge the idealism often associated with police procedural narratives.

Saruwatari, known for his dynamic and highly muscular character designs, applied his signature aesthetic to this series to emphasize the physical and psychological toll of a lawless environment. While it is often overshadowed by his later, more internationally recognized hits, Bad Police remains a significant early example of his ability to weave complex, high-stakes narratives that balance unflinching violence with a cynical commentary on societal authority.
