Where it came from
Batman: Arkham City, Band 1 serves as the German-language publication of the digital-first comic series released to bridge the narrative gap between the video games Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. Published by Panini Comics, this volume compiles the initial chapters written by Paul Dini, the primary writer for the Arkham game series, who sought to translate the dark, atmospheric tone of the digital titles into a serialized comic format.
The series features contributions from various artists, including Carlos D'Anda, whose design work emphasizes the gritty, grounded aesthetic established by the game developers at Rocksteady Studios. The work was received favorably by fans of the franchise, serving as a canonical expansion that detailed the political instability of Gotham City and the rise of the Arkham City prison complex prior to the second game's events.
