Blue Wings

Blue Wings, a poignant manhua series authored and illustrated by Xu Lu, emerged as a notable title within the Chinese digital comics landscape. Serialized primarily on platforms like Kuaikan Manhua, the story explores the complex, often melancholic lives of its protagonists as they navigate themes of family, trauma, and identity. The series is widely recognized for its delicate, emotive art style and a narrative approach that eschews traditional shonen tropes in favor of character-driven psychological depth.

Xu Lu designed the work to highlight the inner struggles of her characters, utilizing a soft color palette and expressive linework that became the visual hallmark of the franchise. Upon its release, Blue Wings was received warmly by readers who appreciated its earnest tone and its departure from the more frenetic pacing common in popular web-comics of the era. Its sustained success contributed to the professional maturation of Xu Lu, cementing her reputation as a creator capable of balancing sensitive subject matter with accessible, evocative storytelling.
