Boku to Jingi Naki Oji-san

Boku to Jingi Naki Oji-san is a manga series created by the artist Momose Wataru. First serialized in the late 2010s, the work emerged as part of a niche but distinct category of seinen manga that blends elements of absurdity, social commentary, and unconventional character dynamics. The title, which roughly translates to 'My Honorless Uncle,' suggests a satirical take on the themes of the yakuza genre, juxtaposing traditional tropes of brotherhood and duty with the mundane or comedic realities of daily life.

The design and visual style of the manga are reflective of Momose Wataru's signature approach, characterized by expressive line work that emphasizes the eccentric nature of the protagonists. The series was developed to explore the friction between different generations and societal expectations, utilizing the 'uncle' figure as a vehicle for humor. Upon its release, it found a dedicated audience among readers of seinen publications who appreciate storytelling that deviates from standard genre conventions, leading to its compilation into collected volumes.
