Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Vol. 2

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Volume 2, was published in English by VIZ Media as part of the series' transition from a monthly serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump to the VIZ Manga platform. Released to build upon the momentum established by the success of the original Naruto franchise, this volume continues the narrative oversight of Masashi Kishimoto, with illustrations by Mikio Ikemoto and scripting by Ukyo Kodachi. The series was created to introduce a new generation of ninja while maintaining the thematic legacy of the Hidden Leaf Village, focusing on the complex relationship between Naruto Uzumaki and his son, Boruto.

The aesthetic direction of the series represents a deliberate shift from the original Naruto style, with Mikio Ikemoto employing more contemporary character designs and leaner line work to reflect the evolving technology and modernity within the ninja world. This second volume specifically expands on the Chunin Exams arc, a core narrative pillar intended to bridge the gap between legacy characters and the new protagonists. Upon its release, the volume was received as a significant test for the franchise, balancing the fan base's nostalgia for Naruto with the challenge of establishing Boruto as a compelling, distinct lead character.
