Where it came from
This short manga was created by CLAMP, the acclaimed artist collective, specifically as a bonus physical incentive for the eighth Blu-ray volume of the Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card anime series. Released in 2018, the volume aimed to reward long-term fans of the franchise who supported the physical home media release, providing a supplementary narrative bridge that expanded upon the established universe of Sakura Kinomoto.
The design of the manga adheres to CLAMP’s signature aesthetic, characterized by delicate linework and an emphasis on the whimsical, ornate costume design that has defined the series since its inception in the late 1990s. As a specialized collector's item, it was received as a nostalgic artifact that bridged the gap between the original manga's conclusion and the thematic developments introduced in the Clear Card arc, reflecting the group’s deliberate effort to maintain narrative consistency across multiple media formats.
