Christopher Gist of Maryland and Some of His Descendants, 1679-1957 / by Jean Muir Dorsey and Maxwell Jay Dorsey.

Published in 1958, this volume serves as a comprehensive genealogical record tracing the lineage of Christopher Gist, a significant figure in 18th-century American history known for his role as an explorer and guide for George Washington. Jean Muir Dorsey and Maxwell Jay Dorsey compiled this research to document the expansion and movement of the Gist family across the American colonies and into the western frontier, preserving connections that might otherwise have faded into obscurity.

The design of the work reflects the mid-20th-century approach to historical preservation and lineage documentation, prioritizing rigorous archival research over aesthetic flourish. It stands as a significant contribution to regional genealogical studies, widely recognized within academic and historical circles as a primary resource for researchers looking to track colonial Maryland families who participated in the westward expansion of the United States.
