Deutsche Nationalbibliographie und Bibliographie des im Ausland erschienenen deutschsprachigen Veröffentlichungen: Monographien und Periodika, Fünfjahres Verzeichnis. 1986-1990. Schlagwort- und Stichwortregister mit systematischer Übersicht der Schlagwörter. Reihe E.. Zweiter Teil

The Deutsche Nationalbibliographie serves as the foundational record of German-language publishing, compiled by the Deutsche Nationalbibliothek. This specific volume is part of the Fünfjahresverzeichnis, or five-year index, covering the period from 1986 to 1990. During this era of German history, the bibliography documented the output of both East and West Germany, culminating in the comprehensive archival efforts that followed reunification. The series was designed as an essential bibliographic tool for librarians, researchers, and archivists, functioning as a systematic index to help track monographs and periodicals published across the German-speaking world.

The design of this register emphasizes functional utility, prioritizing structured access to vast amounts of bibliographic data over aesthetic ornamentation. As part of Reihe E, this volume focuses specifically on subject indexing and keyword categorization. It was crafted by the institution's bibliographers to ensure that the massive influx of printed material from the late 1980s remained searchable and organized. Upon release, it was received primarily as a critical reference work for major academic institutions, serving as a reliable standard for the rigorous systematic classification of German literary and scientific output.
