Diplomataria et scriptores historiae Germanicae medii aevi cum sigillis aeri incisis, opera et studio Christiani Schoettgenii,... et M. Georgii Christophori Kreysigii. Accedit praefatio Christiani Gottlieb Buderi,... de damnis detrimentisque archivorum quorundam Germaniae

Published in the mid-18th century, this scholarly collection represents a significant effort by historians Christian Schoettgen and Georg Christoph Kreysig to document and preserve primary source materials from the German Middle Ages. The work was conceived during a period of rising interest in historical preservation, intended to provide researchers with access to diplomataria—official documents and charters—often accompanied by engravings of the original seals to verify authenticity and context.

The intellectual framework of the volume is bolstered by a preface from Christian Gottlieb Buder, which specifically addresses the critical issue of archive degradation and the loss of historical records in Germany at the time. The inclusion of these engravings reflects the high standards of 18th-century academic publishing, where meticulous visual reproduction was essential for historiographical rigor, cementing the work as a vital, if specialized, resource for institutional libraries and private scholars of the Enlightenment era.
