Dororon Enma-kun

Dororon Enma-kun was created by the legendary manga artist Go Nagai and originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday between 1973 and 1974. Developed during a period when Nagai was exploring the intersection of folklore and supernatural horror, the series follows Enma-kun, a young demon tasked with hunting down rogue monsters infiltrating the human world. It was conceived as a lighthearted yet macabre take on traditional Japanese yōkai tales, blending Nagai's signature stylized violence and irreverent humor with episodic monster-of-the-week adventures.

The character designs are quintessential examples of Nagai’s distinct aesthetic, characterized by expressive, rounded features that contrast sharply with the dark, often grotesque nature of the antagonists. While it was initially targeted at a younger demographic, the series achieved a cult following that appreciated its blend of slapstick comedy and eerie atmosphere.
