Double king

Double King is a surrealist animated short film and associated volume concept created by the independent artist Don Buxing. Developed during a period of burgeoning interest in experimental, grotesque, and non-narrative digital animation on platforms like YouTube, the work emerged as a dark, rhythmic exploration of greed and power. Its aesthetic relies heavily on fluid, unsettling character designs and a haunting musical score that punctuates the protagonist's destructive cycle of acquisition.

The visual language of the piece is defined by its stark contrast between whimsical character proportions and violent, nihilistic outcomes. Buxing’s approach centered on creating an atmosphere of relentless obsession, where the act of collecting itself becomes a doomed endeavor. Upon its release, the work garnered significant acclaim within online animation circles for its technical precision and its ability to evoke complex emotions without the use of traditional dialogue or exposition.
