Where it came from
Dragon Ball AF originated as an internet urban legend in the early 2000s, surfacing as a series of fan-made rumors regarding a continuation of the Dragon Ball Z series. Among the many artists who took inspiration from these viral rumors, the creator known as Young Jijii gained significant notoriety for his high-quality doujinshi illustrations. His work serves as a reimagining of the hypothetical AF concept, focusing on expanded transformations and original antagonists that bridge the gap between the established canon and fan imagination.
Young Jijii's designs are widely recognized for their faithful adherence to Akira Toriyama's original aesthetic and dynamic paneling. By meticulously mimicking the proportions and line work of the source material, the artist successfully captured the enthusiasm of the fan community, leading to the self-publication of these volumes. While these works remain unofficial fan projects, they are regarded as some of the most prominent examples of doujin culture within the global Dragon Ball fandom.
