Gigolo Illustrated: By Edna Ferber

Gigolo was originally published as a short story collection by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Edna Ferber in 1922. The title story explores the post-World War I disillusionment of the 'Lost Generation,' focusing on a young man who navigates the superficial social scenes of Paris. Ferber, known for her sharp observations of American life and character, captured the lingering melancholy and social transitions of the era with her characteristic blend of wit and realism.

This specific volume is a modern republication of the work, intended to make Ferber’s classic short fiction accessible to contemporary readers. While the original 1922 edition was published by Doubleday, Page & Company, this recent edition serves as a preservation of the text. It stands as a reminder of Ferber’s transition from a successful short story writer to the novelist who would later define the American epic with works like Show Boat and Giant.
