Where it came from
Heart no Kuni no Alice: My Fanatic Rabbit is a spin-off manga volume derived from the popular Japanese visual novel series Heart no Kuni no Alice, or Alice in the Country of Hearts. Created by the studio QuinRose, the franchise reimagines Lewis Carroll’s classic tale as a darker, romantic fantasy set in a world where residents carry guns and time is a finite resource. This specific volume focuses on the character Peter White, the White Rabbit, further exploring his obsessive nature and the complex, often volatile dynamics of the Wonderland setting.
The manga was produced as part of an expansive transmedia campaign that saw the original game adapted into various literary formats and anthologies to cater to the dedicated fan base of the QuinRose universe. The artistic direction maintained the gothic, ethereal aesthetic synonymous with the series, focusing on intricate character designs that balance whimsy with a slightly unsettling undertone. While the series faced challenges following the studio's eventual closure, it remains a notable example of early 2000s otome-focused storytelling and remains appreciated by collectors for its unique tonal departure from traditional fairy tale adaptations.
