High Strangeness Book Three: 1983 Issue

High Strangeness is a graphic novel series authored by Christopher Cantwell, known for his work in both television writing and comic books. The project emerged from a desire to explore mid-20th-century cultural anxieties and the intersection of Cold War paranoia with speculative fiction, channeling the aesthetic of 1980s genre storytelling. The third volume, subtitled 1983, serves as a narrative continuation that deepens the series' focus on mysterious phenomena and the human impact of unexplainable occurrences.

The design of the series reflects a deliberate homage to the era it depicts, utilizing visual motifs common to the period's science fiction paperbacks and comic culture. Cantwell collaborated with artistic teams to establish a grounded yet unsettling visual language that reinforces the period setting. Upon release, the series has been noted for its atmospheric world-building and character-driven approach to mystery, finding a receptive audience among readers who appreciate thematic continuity across serialized graphic fiction.
