Histoire des maitres généraux de l'ordre des Frères prêcheurs: Index général

The Histoire des maîtres généraux de l'ordre des Frères prêcheurs is a comprehensive scholarly undertaking by the Dominican friar Daniel-Antonin Mortier, published in the early 20th century. This specific index volume serves as the essential reference key for Mortier's monumental multi-volume study on the leadership history of the Dominican Order, documenting the lives and administrative contributions of the Masters General from the inception of the order in the 13th century through to the modern era.

Mortier, a dedicated historian of his order, compiled these records with the intent of providing an exhaustive, archival-based resource for ecclesiastical scholars and researchers. The design of the work reflects the traditional academic rigor of early 20th-century French clerical historiography, prioritizing meticulous indexing and chronological precision. It remains a foundational tool for those studying the internal governance and historical trajectory of the Friars Preachers, praised primarily for its utility in navigating the vast biographical data presented in the main volumes.
