Where it came from
Horimiya, Vol. 17: A Piece of Memories serves as a commemorative epilogue to the original webcomic series authored by HERO, titled Hori-san to Miyamura-kun. Originally conceived by HERO in 2007, the series gained substantial popularity for its grounded, character-driven approach to the high school romance genre, eventually receiving a formal manga adaptation by Daisuke Hagiwara and a celebrated anime production. This specific volume was released to satisfy long-term fan demand for additional stories that were not covered in the original serialized run.
The design and content of this volume reflect the aesthetic established in HERO's original digital format, characterized by a more casual and episodic storytelling style compared to the serialized manga. It acts as a bridge between the creator's initial vision and the broader media franchise, focusing on intimate character moments. Within the publishing landscape, its release by Yen Press brought these concluding chapters to an international audience, maintaining the series' reputation for heartfelt, low-stakes romantic development.
