Jahresbericht des K.K. Staats-Gymnasiums zu Freistadt in Oberösterreich: für das Schuljahr ...

The Jahresberichte, or annual reports, of the K.K. Staats-Gymnasium in Freistadt were published as part of a formal administrative tradition within the Austro-Hungarian education system. Beginning in the late 19th century, these volumes served as official records for the academic year, documenting curriculum changes, faculty lists, and institutional statistics. They were intended primarily for state oversight, local authorities, and the parents of enrolled students, functioning as both a transparent ledger of pedagogical progress and a chronicle of the school's cultural life in Upper Austria.

The design of these volumes typically followed the standardized, utilitarian aesthetic common to state academic publications of the period, often featuring modest typography and a professional, austere binding. Each report usually opened with an academic treatise or scholarly essay written by a staff member on a classical or pedagogical topic, reflecting the humanist values of the K.K. (Kaiserlich-Königlich) gymnasium system. These documents are now valued by historians as essential primary sources for understanding the development of secondary education and the social history of the Freistadt region during the twilight of the Habsburg Empire.
