John Constantine, Hellblazer by Jamie Delano Omnibus Vol. 2

This volume serves as a significant collection of Jamie Delano's latter contributions to the Hellblazer series, picking up where the initial run left off in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Published by DC Comics under their Vertigo imprint, the omnibus format was developed to preserve the dark, socio-political narratives that defined Constantine's early evolution. It encapsulates a period where the character transitioned from a supporting player in Swamp Thing to a gritty, chain-smoking occult detective operating in a cynical, Thatcher-era United Kingdom.

The aesthetic and narrative direction were heavily influenced by Delano’s commitment to grounding supernatural horror in real-world anxieties, including environmental decay, class struggle, and political extremism. Collaborating with various illustrators, Delano maintained a signature tone of bleak, transgressive realism that defied the traditional superhero conventions of the time. While contemporary critical reception was polarized by its heavy themes, the series has since been canonized as a cornerstone of the mature-readers comic book movement, with this omnibus release designed to provide a cohesive archival experience for long-term fans and new readers alike.
