Kantai Collection -KanColle- Kongou 4 Shimai Youshouki so (Doujinshi)

This doujinshi, titled Kongou 4 Shimai Youshouki, was created by the artist known as Ponjiyuusu, a prominent figure in the Kantai Collection fan community. Released during the height of the franchise's popularity, the work serves as a reimagining of the four Kongou-class battleship sisters—Kongou, Hiei, Haruna, and Kirishima—depicted during their childhood. The artist utilizes the established character traits of these personified warships to explore domestic, lighthearted scenarios, contrasting their later imposing naval roles with a softer, younger aesthetic.

The publication is typical of the doujin culture surrounding the Kantai Collection browser game, where independent creators frequently expand upon the game's lore through unofficial illustrations and narratives. Ponjiyuusu's style, characterized by a clean and expressive approach to character design, was well-received by fans who sought to humanize the series' combat-oriented cast. Like many works in this genre, the volume was distributed at events such as Comiket, serving as an expression of the creative dialogue between the game's developer, Kadokawa Games, and its dedicated community of illustrators.
