Where it came from
Released in the wake of the 2008 broadcast of the Macross Frontier anime series, this anthology was published by Kadokawa Shoten as part of their Comp Ace label. It was designed to capitalize on the massive popularity of the series by gathering short-form comedic and lighthearted manga vignettes from various contributors, allowing fans to see the characters, such as Alto Saotome and Sheryl Nome, in scenarios outside the primary narrative arc of the show.
The anthology features the work of Mizushima Sorahiko, who contributed to the collection's artistic tone. The publication followed the tradition of tie-in manga anthologies common in the Japanese media landscape, aiming to offer a playful expansion of the Macross universe through the lens of parody and character-driven gags. It was received primarily as a collectible for dedicated followers of the Frontier series, emphasizing the established aesthetics and personalities defined in the source animation.
