Manga Michi

Manga Michi, or The Manga Road, is a semi-autobiographical series created by Motoo Abiko, one-half of the renowned Fujiko Fujio duo under the pen name Fujiko Fujio (A). Serialized beginning in 1977 in Shonen Champion, the work chronicles the author's own journey as a young, aspiring artist struggling to break into the professional manga industry. It offers a grounded, reflective look at the mid-20th-century creative climate in Japan, capturing the shared ambitions and daily hurdles of young creators during the dawn of the golden age of manga.

The narrative is deeply tied to the history of the Tokiwa-so apartment building, a legendary residence that housed several of the most influential manga artists of the era, including Osamu Tezuka.
