M.F.C - Onna Dorobou Gaisha Mine Fujiko Company

The Mine Fujiko Company series emerged from the long-running Lupin III franchise created by the manga artist Monkey Punch. Originally serialized in the 1970s, this collection focuses on the iconic femme fatale Fujiko Mine, exploring her autonomy and criminal exploits outside of the primary Lupin III narrative. The work represents a shift in focus toward character-driven spin-offs, highlighting the author's signature blend of heist tropes and playful, stylized character design that defined the franchise's visual identity during the late Shōwa era.

The aesthetic of the series is rooted in the pop-art sensibilities and western comic influences that Monkey Punch integrated into his work. By centering the narrative on Mine, the series delves into the complexities of her elusive persona, portraying her as a sophisticated thief who challenges the traditional archetypes of the genre. Upon release, the series was received as a stylistic expansion of the Lupin universe, appreciated by fans for maintaining the sharp, kinetic energy of the original manga while providing deeper insight into one of its most enigmatic leads.
