More Kindred of the Wild

More Kindred of the Wild is a collection of animal stories by the Canadian author Sir Charles George Douglas Roberts, first published in the early 20th century. Roberts is widely considered a pioneer of the realistic animal story genre, a departure from the anthropomorphic fables popular in the Victorian era. He sought to depict animals with scientific observation and empathy, grounding their struggles for survival in the rugged wilderness of the Canadian landscape.

The design and tone of these volumes were influenced by the late 19th-century fascination with the natural world and the literary movement of nature realism. Roberts worked to bridge the gap between biological accuracy and compelling narrative, a balance that garnered both popular success and critical praise from contemporary readers and fellow naturalists. These stories solidified his legacy as a father of Canadian literature and significantly influenced the development of nature writing in North America.
