Mujirushi - The Sign of Dreams

Mujirushi: The Sign of Dreams was created by Naoki Urasawa in 2017 as a collaborative project with the Louvre Museum in Paris. The work was commissioned as part of the museum's 'BD Louvre' series, which invited various manga artists to create original stories centered around the institution and its collections. Urasawa chose to weave a satirical and suspenseful heist narrative involving a young woman and her father who attempt to steal a masterpiece from the museum to clear their debts.

The design and visual style reflect Urasawa’s signature cinematic pacing and expressive character work, characterized by high-tension storytelling and a blend of grounded realism with absurd comedy. Upon its release, the volume was noted for its meta-commentary on the nature of art and fame, receiving positive attention for its ability to integrate the prestige of the Louvre into the fast-paced, episodic structure typical of Urasawa's thrillers.
