Poems by Alexander Pushkin

This volume serves as a representative anthology of the work of Aleksandr Sergeevich Pushkin, the foundational figure of modern Russian literature. The collection was curated to distill the breadth of Pushkin's poetic output, which bridged the gap between neoclassical traditions and the burgeoning Romanticism of the early 19th century. By presenting these works in a single volume, the edition aims to provide a comprehensive view of the lyrical depth and linguistic innovation that earned Pushkin his status as the father of the Russian literary language.

The design of this specific edition emphasizes readability and academic accessibility, characteristic of mid-to-late 20th-century scholarly printing. These anthologies were typically produced to serve university curricula and public libraries, focusing on authoritative translations and structured indices rather than decorative ornamentation. The design choices reflect a desire to position Pushkin not merely as a historical poet, but as a living element of a global literary canon, ensuring his verses remained legible to students and scholars long after the initial waves of 19th-century criticism.
