Poems of Paul Hamilton Hayne. Complete Ed

The Complete Edition of the Poems of Paul Hamilton Hayne was originally published in 1882 by D. Lothrop & Co. Hayne, often referred to as the Poet Laureate of the South, was a prominent figure in the post-Civil War literary landscape. This comprehensive collection was assembled to preserve his extensive body of work, which frequently focused on themes of the Southern landscape, resilience, and the melancholy of the Reconstruction era.

The volume is recognized for its stylistic commitment to the 19th-century American literary tradition. While individual poems often drew praise from his contemporaries for their lyrical quality and devotion to nature, the collection as a whole served as a vital archival effort. Modern iterations, such as the ISBN provided, are digital reprints of this historical text, intended to keep Hayne’s nineteenth-century poetic voice accessible to contemporary scholars and students of Southern literature.
